Passive Devices

      Jammers:
      These two "passive jammers," like all others, incorporate a FM chirp when the signal is reflected back to the radar gun to confuse the computer inside the gun. The main problem these products have is that their reflector inside the jammer is like 1/32nd the size compare to a standard size vehicle. Hint the reason why they do not jammer the officers gun.

      Plate Cover (Laser):
      Plate covers that are made to defeat laser guns are effective to a point. Most laser tagging accrues a 1000 ft or less. A laser plate by itself on a Black car with retractable light and with very minimal reflective surface with a plate cover is very effective. Any chrome or reflective surfaces is non-effective even with a cover against a laser gun. A cover with headlights on (high beams more effective) can reduce the targeting range an officer can track a vehicle.

The front plate and vehicle reflectivity, will effect true vehicles detection range. With different colors and reflective tape on the plate plays an important roll for how far a laser gun is effected.


Active Devices

    Radar Jamming:

       There were many active jammers that came on the market back in `95-`96 time period. All but one is left today. These devises were executed do to the FCC. They were transmitting over 1 watt without a license and because they interfered with a Federal, State, and Local law enforcement. Plus, the FCC considers the use of traffic radar jammers as malicious interference and strictly prohibited by the Communications Act of 1934, and a fine of $250,000 plus time. Your State also has rules too. In Virginia Commonwealth, (also know as the Communist Wealth) rules state ANYTHING, active or passive, that interferes in the duty of an officer is a violation.

      So in summary, if you Jam a Law officer's radar gun you will be facing Federal, State, and Local Charges.


    Laser Jamming:
      Laser Countermeasures are not outlawed by the FCC. This is because of the regulates just stop before is frequency laser starts in. Now, do not forget that your State and Local governments still have laws against the jamming of their equipment.

The K40, has had mixed reviews about its ability to jam Laser guns. It has series of LEDs that pulse when it detects a Laser gun.

The Laser Echo, has strong reviews. Its ability to jam a Laser gun is excellent but does have a down fall, some of the guns indicate an interference or jamming of the gun. A new Echo has been in the works not to indicate the jamming of the gun. It has a five second jamming then shuts-down to cool down and then allows the officer later to get a speed reading (a good thing.)

The Blinder, has too had excellent reviews. Their old M-06 (continuous jamming) and the New M-10 (with detector), both with two transponders are very effective.
